An Ohio resident has been taken into custody as part of an investigation into a road rage incident that allegedly targeted GOP Representative Max Miller, according to police statements released on Friday. The incident, which reportedly occurred on Thursday, has ignited a firestorm of reactions across political lines.
The Rocky River Police Department reported that Feras S. Hamdan, 36, from Westlake, Ohio, surrendered himself after an arrest warrant for aggravated menacing was issued by the Rocky River Municipal Court. The arrest followed claims by Rep. Miller that he was forced off the road by an individual displaying a Palestinian flag.
Rep. Miller, who is Jewish, expressed his concerns about the aggression he faced. "The deranged hatred in this country has gotten out of control. Today I was run off the road in Rocky River, and the life of me and my family was threatened by a person who proceeded to show a Palestinian flag before taking off," Miller shared in a post on his X account on Thursday afternoon.
The incident has not only drawn the attention of local law enforcement but has also prompted comments and condemnations from national figures. Various members from both the House and Senate, including the House Democratic leadership and Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.), have publicly denounced the incident, highlighting the growing concern over politically motivated violence.
Moreover, the investigation has garnered the involvement of several major agencies, including the U.S. Capitol Police, Ohio State Patrol, FBI, the Rocky River prosecutor’s office, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio, indicating the seriousness with which this case is being treated.
As the investigation continues, the community and lawmakers alike await further details and hope for a resolution that addresses the underlying tensions reflected in this unsettling event.
