Trump Administration Launches Aggressive Campaign to Secure Passage of Landmark Megabill

President Donald Trump and his administration are mounting an all-out effort to rally support for what the President has dubbed the "big, beautiful bill," which is currently facing hurdles in the Senate. Top officials have been vocally defending the bill's merits amid a marathon legislative session known as a "vote-a-rama."

Stephen Miller, Trump's lead policy advisor, made a fiery appearance on Fox News' "Hannity" to vehemently counteract the bill's detractors. "I am sick and tired of the lies about this bill that have been perpetrated by the opportunists who are trying to make a name for themselves,” Miller stated emphatically. He hailed the bill as "the most conservative bill of my lifetime."

Meanwhile, White House budget director Russ Vought took to social media platform X to address concerns from fiscal conservatives worried about the bill's financial implications. He supported the Senate's use of the "current policy baseline" method for accounting, which disregards the costs of extending the 2017 Trump tax cuts. Vought argued that criticisms based on deficit increases rely on a flawed assumption of perpetual spending against temporary tax relief. "That is a Leftist presupposition, and thankfully the Senate refused to let the bill be scored that way," he explained.

As the Senate deliberations stretched into the night, Vice President JD Vance also contributed to the discussion on X, focusing particularly on the bill's provisions for border security and immigration enforcement. "Everything else — the CBO score, the proper baseline, the minutiae of the Medicaid policy — is immaterial compared to the ICE money and immigration enforcement provisions," Vance wrote, emphasizing the importance of these aspects over other fiscal concerns.

Just after midnight, President Trump himself took to Truth Social to make a direct appeal to Republican senators. He praised the megabill for proposing "the largest Tax Cuts and Border Security ever, Jobs by the Millions, Military/Vets increases, and so much more." Trump also starkly warned that failing to pass the bill could result in a "whopping 68% Tax increase, the largest in history."

As the Senate continued its session into the early hours, the outcome of the megabill remained uncertain, with no final agreement in sight. The Trump administration, however, remains steadfast in its commitment to see the bill pass, framing it as a pivotal moment for conservative policy and national security.
