Trump Reiterates Call for Rep. Ilhan Omar to Leave the U.S. Amidst Targeted Attacks

In a recent surge of targeted attacks, President Donald Trump has once again stirred controversy by suggesting that Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) should leave the United States due to her Somali heritage. This call was made through a post on Truth Social, where Trump shared a video of Omar addressing a crowd, reigniting a familiar line of attack from his presidency.

The video, which has been circulating among right-wing social media circles for weeks, captured Omar’s speech at an unspecified event. Trump's post quickly gained traction, with prominent MAGA figures like Laura Loomer amplifying the message across various platforms.

Born in Somalia, Omar fled a brutal civil war at age 8 and spent four years in a Kenyan refugee camp before arriving in the U.S. in 1995. She became an American citizen in 2000, rising to become one of the few Muslim women in Congress.

Trump’s history of singling out Omar includes a notable instance during the 2020 campaign where he accused her of "telling us how to run our country." His repeated suggestions for her removal from the U.S. also surfaced in a September Oval Office meeting with the head of Somalia, as Trump recounted to reporters.

Despite these ongoing attacks, Omar remains undeterred. Speaking on The Dean Obeidallah Show, she expressed confusion over the fixation with her citizenship and potential deportation. “I have no worry, I don’t know how they’d take away my citizenship and like deport me,” Omar stated, emphasizing her resilience and the absurdity of the threats against her.

As of now, Omar’s office has not issued a response to Trump’s latest comments. However, the congresswoman’s resolve appears firm as she continues to navigate the challenges of her role with her history as a refugee and now a key political figure in the United States.
