Trump Endorses Over Fifty Republicans Excluding Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears Ahead of Elections

In a sweeping endorsement spree on Sunday night, former President Donald Trump announced his support for more than fifty Republican candidates participating in the upcoming Tuesday elections. However, one notable omission from his list was Virginia’s Republican gubernatorial candidate Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears.

Through a series of posts on his social media platform, Trump backed numerous candidates, including first-timers and those seeking reelection such as Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Yet, amidst the flurry of endorsements, Lt. Gov. Earle-Sears, who is contending against Democrat Abigail Spanberger, did not receive a direct endorsement.

Trump did express a general desire for Republican victories in Virginia, emphasizing the importance of voting against Democratic candidates like Spanberger and New Jersey's Mikie Sherrill, whom he criticized for supporting policies he claimed would lead to higher crime and energy costs. His support in New Jersey was affirmed with an endorsement of Jack Ciattarelli last month.

In a post, Trump urged, “Why would anyone vote for New Jersey and Virginia Gubernatorial Candidates, Mikie Sherrill and Abigail Spanberger, when they want transgender for everybody, men playing in women’s sports, High Crime, and the most expensive Energy prices almost anywhere in the World? VOTE REPUBLICAN for massive Energy Cost reductions, large scale Tax Cuts, and basic Common Sense!”

Despite this broad call to action, Trump has been ambiguous about his support for Earle-Sears, merely stating last month that Virginia should elect the “Republican candidate” because the Democrat candidate is a "disaster." This was followed by a virtual rally alongside Virginia's outgoing Governor Glenn Youngkin, showing support for the GOP ticket without specific mention of Earle-Sears.

Current polls show Earle-Sears trailing her Democratic opponent by a significant margin, which raises questions about the impact of Trump’s non-endorsement.

As of now, responses from the White House and Earle-Sears' campaign regarding Trump's endorsements and the conspicuous absence of direct support for Earle-Sears have not been forthcoming. This development leaves political analysts pondering the potential implications for the Republican campaign in Virginia just days before the voters head to the polls.
