Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have intensified their investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein scandal by inviting Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, previously known as Prince Andrew, to testify about his connections with the late financier and convicted sex offender. The committee, led by Representative Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), is focused on identifying Epstein's enablers and understanding the breadth of his criminal activities.

The lawmakers highlighted, "Well-documented allegations against you, along with your long-standing friendship with Mr. Epstein, indicate that you may possess knowledge of his activities relevant to our investigation." This statement is part of a broader effort to clarify the extent of Epstein's network and influence.

In 2019, Windsor faced severe allegations when Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s accusers, claimed she was sexually assaulted by him at age 17. The fallout from these accusations has been significant, culminating last week in Windsor being stripped of his royal titles and evicted from his residence by his brother, King Charles, apparently due to the ongoing controversy linked to Epstein.

The probe has unearthed troubling financial records from the Epstein estate, including entries like “massage for Andrew,” which suggest personal and financial connections between Windsor and Epstein. These revelations have prompted further scrutiny from committee members, including Reps. Suhas Subramanyam (D-Va.) and Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ill.), who are eager for Windsor to participate in a congressional hearing.

Despite the urgency from the U.S. lawmakers, the committee faces significant hurdles. House Democrats do not currently have subpoena power, and as a British citizen, Windsor is not legally obligated to comply with their request. The committee has set a deadline for Windsor to respond by November 20.
