Nebraska Senate Hopeful Dan Osborn Cancels Fundraiser Amid Epstein Scandal Link

Nebraska independent Senate candidate Dan Osborn has called off a high-profile fundraiser after unsettling revelations involving its co-host, Dana Chasin, a Democratic operative and Rockefeller heir. Chasin was recently named in documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, alleging his involvement in transporting young girls to Epstein’s residence for illicit activities.

The canceled event, initially scheduled for Tuesday in Washington, D.C., was intended to boost Osborn's campaign against Republican incumbent Pete Ricketts. However, the surfacing of Chasin’s name in a March 2024 email from lawyer Jeanne Christensen to a Justice Department attorney has cast a shadow over the fundraiser. The email accuses Chasin of flying an unnamed young woman on a private plane to Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse. Although the document stops short of a direct accusation of sexual abuse by Chasin, the implications were serious enough to prompt the cancellation.

Responding to inquiries from POLITICO, an Osborn campaign spokesperson stated, “This event has been cancelled,” followed by a declaration that “Anyone who hurt kids or engaged in other illegal activity needs to be arrested and prosecuted.” The campaign did not elaborate on the vetting process for the event's co-hosts.

Chasin, who has contributed over $2 million to Democratic campaigns since the 1990s, remained silent following requests for comment. The invitation to the now-cancelled fundraiser had listed ticket prices ranging from $250 to $3,500.

In the weeks leading up to this controversy, Osborn has been vocally supportive of justice for Epstein’s victims on social media platforms such as X. Just a day before the cancellation, Osborn expressed his disdain for the impunity enjoyed by powerful elites, stating, “There is a small, powerful group of ELITES who think they can do anything they want on this earth. They think they are deserving. They think they are exceptional.”

The sudden cancellation highlights the ongoing impact of the Epstein scandal on political and social spheres, reminding the public and political entities of the vigilance needed in affiliations and endorsements. As the story unfolds, the focus remains on ensuring accountability and justice in the broader narrative surrounding Epstein's crimes.
