Democrats Call for Immediate Release of Hillary Clinton’s Full Deposition Transcript

Democratic members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee are pushing for a rapid release of the unedited transcript from Hillary Clinton's deposition in the ongoing House investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. The closed-door testimony, which took place at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center, has ignited calls for transparency after Clinton’s request to testify publicly was denied.

Leading the charge is Rep. Robert Garcia from California, who, alongside fellow Democrats Rep. Yassamin Ansari of Arizona, Rep. Wesley Bell of Missouri, and Virginia Representatives Suhas Subramanyam and James Walkinshaw, demanded the transcript's release within 24 hours during a press conference on Thursday. Garcia emphasized the importance of transparency, especially given the secretive nature of the proceedings.

The logistics of such a quick turnaround seem daunting. According to an Oversight aide, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the committee typically receives the transcript a few days post-deposition for review by the witness's legal team before publication. This standard process suggests a delay is likely.

During the news conference, Garcia highlighted that Clinton had cooperatively answered all questions without invoking the Fifth Amendment and noted that she offered no new information beneficial to the committee's investigatory goals. Clinton has consistently denied any knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities and any recollection of meeting him.

Rep. Ansari criticized the session as a "clown show," accusing Republican members of prioritizing optics over substantive inquiry. "We are sitting through an incredibly unserious deposition," Ansari stated, expressing frustration over the lack of new insights garnered from the testimony.

The committee’s Republican members have indicated plans to release a video of the proceedings once it passes review. However, the Democrats argue that this does not suffice in terms of ensuring immediate and full transparency.

The testimonies of high-profile figures like Hillary Clinton, and the scheduled deposition of former President Bill Clinton, continue to draw significant public and media attention, underscoring the political tensions and the high stakes of the investigation into Epstein’s connections. As the process unfolds, the call for transparency remains a pivotal concern among Democrats, who view the immediate release of the deposition transcript as a critical step toward accountability and public trust.
