In an unexpected turn of events, conservative commentator Tucker Carlson lambasted Donald Trump for his provocative Easter Sunday post. During his podcast monologue, Carlson did not hold back, describing the former president's remarks as "vile on every level" and indicative of a potential war crime.
Donald Trump's social media outburst on Truth Social was not only profane but threatened aggressive military actions against Iran. “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah,” Trump wrote.
Carlson's critique highlighted a growing rift within the MAGA movement, particularly between foreign policy hawks and isolationists. He sharply criticized Trump for his aggressive stance, which contradicts his previous promises to avoid foreign conflicts and focus on America-first policies.
The former Fox News host also took issue with Trump's invocation of "Allah" in his post, accusing the president of mocking the Islamic faith. “So obviously you're mocking the religion of Iran,” Carlson remarked. He emphasized that no respectable individual should deride another's religion, pointing out the insensitivity and potential for inciting religious conflict.
Carlson wasn’t the only prominent conservative figure to express disapproval. Ex-congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, once a staunch Trump supporter, echoed Carlson's sentiments in her own critique. “Everyone in his administration that claims to be a Christian needs to fall on their knees and beg forgiveness from God and stop worshipping the President and intervene in Trump’s madness,” she stated.
“This is not making America great again, this is evil,” Greene added, marking a significant departure from her usual alignment with Trump's policies and rhetoric.
The backlash from key conservative figures like Carlson and Greene underscores the controversy Trump's recent actions and statements have stirred, potentially reshaping alliances within his own political base.
