Senator Mark Kelly's Fundraising Surges Amid Trump's 'Seditious Six' Attacks

In a striking display of political fundraising prowess, Senator Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) has amassed a formidable $13 million over the past three months, boosting his campaign coffers to an impressive $22.3 million. This financial feat is particularly noteworthy as Kelly is not slated for re-election this cycle, according to details released by his campaign to POLITICO.

The surge in donations appears to be fueled by President Donald Trump’s recent criticisms, where he labeled Kelly and other Democratic military veterans as the "Seditious Six." This attack has seemingly backfired, as it has galvanized grassroots support for Kelly, helping him raise $12.5 million in the previous quarter alone.

Representative Jason Crow (D-Colo.), another veteran featured in Trump's controversial remarks, also experienced a significant uptick in contributions, securing $928,000 since the start of the year, marking the largest quarterly fundraising haul of his career.

Amidst growing speculation about his potential presidential ambitions for 2028, Kelly has not only been accumulating funds but also strategically distributing them. His campaign and leadership PAC have transferred $105,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) and directly contributed to various Democratic candidates facing challenging races, including James Talarico, Julianna Stratton, and Mary Peltola.

Furthermore, Kelly’s campaign reported that a staggering 98 percent of the donations received were contributions under $100, emphasizing the grassroots nature of his support base.

“Mark understands that the path to holding Trump accountable is through flipping Congress in November. That's why he is actively campaigning in battleground states and bolstering candidates with the resources needed to triumph in tough elections,” Jacob Peters, a spokesperson for Kelly, told POLITICO.

Additionally, Kelly’s fundraising efforts extended beyond his campaign, raising $470,000 for his leadership PAC and $1.1 million for the Democratic National Committee in 2026. This strategic financial support not only strengthens his position within the Democratic Party but also underscores his commitment to supporting fellow Democrats in pivotal races across the country.

As the political landscape heats up and the 2028 presidential election looms, Senator Mark Kelly's fundraising success and strategic foresight mark him as a significant player in the ongoing battle for control in Washington and potentially beyond.
