The gala, one of the largest diplomatic receptions ever hosted in Brussels, took place on June 28 at the historic Parc du Cinquantenaire. Over 8,800 guests witnessed the fireworks that illuminated the night sky beneath the triumphal arch, with the festivities extending into the Royal Museum of Art and History. U.S. Ambassador to Belgium, Bill White, ensured that the event, costing around €5 million, was a spectacle of joy and celebration, supported by contributions from 220 Belgian and American companies.

The morning after, photographs shared by Ambassador White showcased the park in pristine condition. He affirmed on social media platform X that the venue "has never looked any cleaner," thanking the Belgian company responsible for the event logistics. However, the Belgian Buildings Agency raised concerns after finding fireworks debris on the museum's roof, alongside areas that appeared blackened.

Reports from Flemish newspapers, De Standaard and Het Nieuwsblad, brought the issue to light, leading to an official investigation by the Buildings Agency to assess the extent of the potential damage. According to POLITICO, the agency noted, "analyses are still ongoing," and it is yet to confirm the need for any repair work.

Belgian Buildings Minister Vanessa Matz urged patience, highlighting the need to distinguish the damage potentially caused by the fireworks from that of a severe thunderstorm that struck Brussels the night before the event.
