Epstein Survivor to Testify in Senate Hearing Against AG Nominee Todd Blanche

Senate Judiciary Democrats have taken a decisive step by inviting Danielle Bensky, a survivor of the notorious Jeffrey Epstein, to testify against Todd Blanche’s nomination for the permanent position of Attorney General. This comes as part of a broader scrutiny of Blanche's involvement in the mishandling of sensitive documents known as the Epstein files.

Bensky, whose ordeal with Epstein has been publicly documented, will join a panel of external witnesses scheduled for Thursday. This session follows Blanche’s own confirmation hearing. The inclusion of Bensky aims to shed light on what many Democrats consider Blanche’s questionable conduct in his current role as Acting Attorney General, particularly his oversight of the controversial Epstein file releases.

The files, which contain details about Epstein's criminal activities and his associates, were released under Blanche’s watch with significant delays and errors in redactions, exposing sensitive information including the identities of victims like Bensky. “Dani Bensky is a brave survivor whose privacy was compromised in the botched handling of the Epstein Files. Her repeated failures to secure redaction of her personal information lay at the feet of Todd Blanche,” stated Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois, the leading Democrat on the Judiciary Committee.

Adding to the controversy, a group of Epstein survivors released a video on Monday evening, directly appealing to senators to reject Blanche’s candidacy due to his role in the flawed disclosure process.

The hearings will also feature Liz Oyer, a former DOJ pardon attorney dismissed by Blanche. Durbin claims her firing was for refusing to approve gun ownership rights to Mel Gibson, who has a documented history of domestic violence and ties to Donald Trump. “Their testimonies are expected to illustrate how Blanche may have politically weaponized the Justice Department to serve Donald Trump instead of the American public,” Durbin remarked.

While the Republicans have yet to announce their list of supporting witnesses for Blanche, the unfolding testimonies from Bensky and Oyer could significantly influence the Senate’s confirmation decision. The stakes are high as the Senate weighs whether Blanche's actions align with the justice and impartiality required for the role of America’s top law enforcement officer.
